Who is Jesus Christ?
Lord, Liar, or Lunatic

Jesus illusion

Who is Jesus Christ?

As we journey through life many will questions the works and teachings of Jesus.

Here are some commonly asked questions regarding Christ. Following each questions I give my answer.

Who is Jesus Christ anyways? He never claimed to the God he only said he was the son of God!

This is not true. Jesus claimed in many ways to be divine. Jesus said, “I and the Father are one.” (John 10:30) He also said, “...whoever has seen the Father has seen me.” (John 14:9) Jesus claimed to be sinless (John 8:46) and that he could forgive sin (Matthew 9:1-8; Mk. 2:3-12). He claimed to be able to save us from sin and death (John 11:25) and that he had come from heaven (John 2:21-23). However, one of the greatest claims that Jesus made was in John 8:58 when he used the Divine name of God for himself. The same name that God told Moses at the burning bush in Ex. 3:14. Jesus claimed to be “I AM.” Jesus claimed to be God.

Jesus never claimed to be God. He only said that he was the way to God, much like a guru! Christ was not THE GOD, no he just had a heightened sense of God-consciousness, and we can all develop this God-consciousness that Christ had. If fact, are all sons and daughters of God!

Who is Jesus Christ? Jesus could not have been a guru because he was a Jew. No guru was ever a Jew.

Yet, if Jesus contradicted his Jewishness and was a guru, he failed at it. Jesus did not teach an esoteric, individual experience. He did not teach pantheism. He did not teach that enlightenment consists of emancipation from time. He did not teach that God is unknowable. Jesus taught nothing that a guru would teach. Jesus was not just a man who had a heightened sense of God-consciousness. Jesus taught that he was deity.

I believe that Christ was a great moral teacher but I am not able to accept the idea that he is God!

If Jesus was only a great moral teacher, then he was a liar. He had all the virtues, both soft and hard, tender and tough. He claimed to be God.

However, Jesus died for his “lie” if he was just a great moral teacher. That would make him a lunatic as well.

Jesus’ divinity was a myth that was invented by later generations of Christians!

There are 24,000 ancient manuscripts of the Bible which have been found. They are in different languages and come from different times in history.

Textual critics have used these manuscripts to verify the Bible which we have today. For this reason we can be certain that the Bible is accurate.

So it is not the Bible which is in question, it is Jesus.

The New Testament is dated first century and yet for a myth to develop it would have began around AD 150. After Jesus’ death, there was plenty of time for witnesses or enemies of Christ to set the record straight. No one stepped in. There is not evidence as to who invented this myth?
