The Problem of Evil

Here are my thoughts on the Problem of Evil.

If God created the world, why is it so full of suffering and evil?

Let me ask you a question. Do you have a free will?

Do you feel that a world with free will is better that one without it?

I cannot argue with the fact that evil does indeed exist in this world that we live in. However, evil is not a creation of God.

Instead, it is a result of the free will given to us by God. God did not create Robots, instead He made choosing people and ran the risk of having them choose evil intentions. God does not force His will but he does make an allowance for choice.

Why does God create famines and earthquakes?

That is a good question. It is easy to see how man’s sin is the result of moral evil but it is harder to understand why there is natural evil in this world.

The Bible tells us that man’s fall included not only moral evil, but the creation around him was also affected (Gen.3:14-19; Rom. 8:18-23; Rev. 22:3). The result of man’s fall is that today we live in an environment full of natural disasters. This is a far cry from the world that God intended for man.

The good news is that the state the world is in today is abnormal and will be rectified by God when all sin is removed (Rev. 31:3,4; 22:3). The garden of Eden saw no natural disasters of death before the fall of man. In the same way, there will be no disasters or death in the new heavens and earth when God puts an end to evil.
