The Prayer of JabezThe Prayer of Jabez is found in 1 Chronicles 4:9-10. It goes like this:
(10) Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, "Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain." And God granted his request. This passage would not. have been considered a famous Bible verse before the year 2000. 
Author Bruce Wilkinson took this little known verse and pushed it onto the mainstream when he wrote his little book called, The Prayer o f Jabez - Breaking Through to the Blessed Life.Now, I am not against praying through scripture however I am always disappointed when Christian self-help books get thrust to number 1 on the best sellers list. I seem to catch myself asking this question, "Was the book written to build God's kingdom or was it written to make money?" The book was not a hard read and it was not a waste of my time. Lots of cool truths in it. Yet, I seem to be asking myself, "Why was this book written?" You might have to find that one out for yourself. Return to Famous Bible Verses from Prayer of Jabez
