John Hus (1372? - 1415)

About John Hus

A character sketch of John Hus

A professor of philosophy at the University of Prague and preacher at Bethlehem Chapel.

His movement paralleled Wyclif’s endeavors and had a greater influence.

Hus believed that Christ was the head of the Church, not the Pope. He also had a problem with indulgences.

Excommunicated by the pope when he became the leader of a reform movement that spread across Bohemia.

At the Council of Constance Hus was deemed a heretic and was burned at the stake.

Personal Application.

This was a man who can be credited for standing up for what he believed in. He knew the scriptures and until his death, supported the Bible. We as believers need to be encouraged that men like Hus defended Christ and molded the Christ centered movement that we new have.
