The Greatest Commandment

Jesus was once asked what was the Greatest Commandment. His answer can be found in Matthew 22:37-39.

(36) "Teacher, which is the greatest-commandment in the Law?"(37) Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'(38) This is the first and greatest-commandment.(39) And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'

This is a great passage but two questions come to my mind when I read it.

1. Where does "myself" fit into the equation?

The answer is simple. You do not fit into the Great Commandments. It is about God and others.

2. Who is my neighbor?

If you look up Luke 10:25-37 , you will find the story of the Good Samaritan.

In this parable, Jesus is asked, by a Lawyer, this very question. Give it a read. It is a really great answer.
