Is Christ the Way?
Is Christ the Way? Find out what I think.
Isn’t Christianity exclusivistic, intolerant, narrow minded, elitist, snobbish, self-assured, self-righteous and bigoted?
Christianity is does not posses these traits. This is a false assumption. It seems that people who feel this way do not take seriously the claim of Jesus and the disciples. The fact of the matter is that these people are ignorant of the scriptures. The fact remains that man was separated from God and the only way to be free from sin is to allow Christ to be the bridge over that gap. Christ is the only way over the great divide. (John 3:18; 8:24; 14:6)
Since all religions are the basically the same, does it matter what you believe? Isn’t the choice of which religion you take just a matter of personal preference?
The question needs to be asked, “How can all these religions be right at the same time?” The law states that if 2 statements about one particular issue contradict each other then only one of them are true or both are false. They cannot be true at the same time. If A contradicts B then: either A is true and B is false or B is true and A is false or A is false and B is false. The fact remains that doctrine between religions contradicts each other. Salvation for the Muslim is different than salvation for the Christian. (works vs. faith) Eternal destiny is different. (with Allah vs. with God) Religions are not the same and personal preference does not make a religion right. Choosing a religion is different than choosing what to have for lunch. With religion, one will save (Christ) and the rest will cause eternal torment. Is Christ the way? Yes!
An estimated 75% of the world’s population is not Christian. Can they all be wrong? Christ can be the only way to God for you but how can you claim that He is the only way for everyone?
The Bible makes it clear that the only way to salvation is through Christ (John 14:1). Being sincere is not wrong. However, this does not logically follow for can a person be sincerely wrong, convinced that something is right when in fact it is wrong? Look at the Jim Jones massacre or the Branch Davidians in Waco Texas. These people were sincere yet they ended dying for a cult. A nurse administered oxygen to a patient and left. When she came back to the patient he was dead because the bottle had been mislabeled “oxygen” instead of “nitrogen.” She sincerely believed she was right but this did not help the patient who died. Truth must be determined objectively apart form religious intent. Scripture, which we have determined to be true, states the truth.
