I. The Bible Theology of the Authority of Scripture
I believe that the Bible is written by holy men who were inspired by the Holy Spirit. These men wrote in a manner which revealed not only the nature of God but also God’s intent for man. Scripture as we know it in the twentieth century is complete, without error, and should be interpreted in a literal manner. (1 Peter 1:20,21; Matt. 24:35; 2 Tim. 3:16,17)
II. The Trinity of the Godhead Theology
I believe that the Godhead exists eternally in three persons (the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). These three persons are one God and have exactly the same nature, attributes and perfections. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are worthy of exactly the same honor, confidence and obedience. (Genesis 1:26; 3:22; 11:6-8; John 1:1-4, 14; Matt. 28:19,20; 2 Cor. 13:14)
III. The Deity of the Virgin Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ Theology
I believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is both man and God in the “true” sense. He is the Son of God and was born of a virgin named Mary. He lived His life on the earth in a sinless manner. Then He was unjustly sacrificed, was buried, and then rose in a bodily manner from the grave. He then ascended into heaven where He rules while he waits until he will come to earth again. (Isaiah 7:14; Luke 1:35; Matt. 1:18-23; John 1:1,2; 1 Cor. 5: 3,4; Heb. 4:14,15; Acts 1:11)
IV. The Personality, Deity and Present Mission of the Holy Spirit
I believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit is now present in the true Church and has been sent for the sole purpose of revealing Christ Jesus to humanity. The Church may now be comforted, instructed and built up in its faith through the Holy Spirit while sinners may be convicted of sin, unrighteousness and of judgment by the Holy Spirit. (John 7:38,39; 14:16,17; 15:26; 16:13-15; Acts 1:8; 2:1-4)
V. Bible Theology of Creation
A. The creation of the earth and earthly beingsI believe in a literal seven day creation in which God not only created the universe along with the earth and its creatures, but God also created man in His own image. (Genesis 1-2) B. The creation of heavenly beings 1. Good angels I believe that God created angels. Angels are God’s immortal messengers who bring Glory to God through their service to Him. Angels do not posses bodies like men and are more powerful than men. (Col. 1:16; Luke 20:36; 2 Peter 2:11; Rev. 18:1) 2. Bad angels. I believe that God created Satan and the demons. Satan is a fallen angel who does not tell the truth because he is the father of lies. He hates both God and man and uses demons to carry out his evil schemes. He is the leader of the world. There will however be a day when Satan will be defeated and cast into a literal Lake of fire. (Rev. 16:13-16; 20:11-15; 21:8; 22:11; Matt. 12:26,27; 25:41; Heb. 2:14; 1 Peter 5:8)
VI. Humanity
A. The fall of manI believe that Man was created in God’s image with a holy, godly nature. Man was in fellowship with God. He was placed in an environment that was “all very good.” Yet he was tempted by Satan, and he deliberately choose a path of destruction. As a result of falling to temptation, man was forced to pay the consequences which includes death. (Gen. 1:26; 2:17; Romans 5:12; 8:6) B. The total depravity of man I believe that with the exception of Christ, all human nature has been corrupted by the fall of man. All men therefore have a sinful nature and are incapable of playing any part in his salvation. (Gen. 1:25-27; 2:17; Rom. 3:22,23; 5:12-21; Eph. 2:1-3,12)
VII. Bible Theology of Sin
A. The nature of sinI believe that Sin is not obeying God’s law, and not believing or trusting in Christ. Sin is doing what is not right. This means that the desire to sin, and the acts of sin that men do is all sin. (1 John 5:17a; 1 John 3:4; James 4:17; John 16:8,9) B. The source of sin I believe it was the devil who brought sin into this world. (John 8:44; 1 John 3:8)
VIII. Bible Theology of Salvation
I believe that sinners are saved by grace through faith alone and not through themselves. This is a free gift from God and cannot be accomplished through works. It is accomplished through the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection three days later. This is the only sacrifice God would accept for man’s sins. I also believe that once a person has received salvation, he is assured of his salvation. (1 Peter 2:24; Gal. 3:13; John 5:24; 10:28-30; 2 Cor. 5:21; Eph. 2:10; Rom. 8:23)
IX. Theology of The Church
I believe that all Christians, past, present, and future, make up what is called the Church. These people whose sins have been forgiven are in who the Holy Spirit lives. (Rom. 1:6,7; 1 Cor. 1:2; Gal. 1:13; Eph. 5:28)A. The gifts of the Holy Spirit I believe that the Holy Spirit administers spiritual gifts to the Church to be used with the intention of glorifying God. (Romans 12; 1 Corinthians 12) B. Baptism I believe that baptism is simply an association with Christ. It is a proclamation of the sinner’s death to sin and his resurrection in a newness of life. While believers are urged to be baptized, it is not a requirement for salvation.(Matthew 28:19,20; Rom. 6:3-5) C. The Lord’s Supper I believe that the Lord’s supper is a memorial of Christ death. Christ set the example of “breaking bread’ and should be done as a reminder of Christ’s work. The Lord’s supper is not essential for salvation but should be performed only by believers. (1 Cor. 11:17-34)
X. The Bible Theology of End Times
I believe that this present age will end with the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. First He receive His church unto himself and then He will establish the throne of David upon the earth. Here He will reign in righteousness for a thousand years. (2 Sam. 7:16; Isaiah 9:6,7; 1 Thess. 4:13-16; Luke 1:32:33; Titus 2:13)
