PlotThe book of Second Chronicles presents a positive look back at the history of Israel during the reign of King Solomon and the history of Kings in David's line in Judah following Solomon. The emphasis on Godly worship continues on but here the emphasis is focused on the Temple that Solomon built. King Hezekiah and King Josiah are great figures in Second Chronicles but other less righteous kings are also treats as positively as possible. Where good things can be said the author does so, however, serious sins are not glossed over and neglected either. Most notably King Manasseh's horrible sins are reported but his repentance s in exile in Babylon ends his story on a positive note. The book closes with Cyrus's decree that Israel can return home and rebuild the temple. There is encouragement here for the people to rebuild and recapture the glory of the past. The same God who helped King Solomon construct the first temple will be there to help build another temple.
